OZ - June 22nd, 2005 - November 23rd, 2007 Unfortunately,
with diminished success and continued stress OZ stopped living up to
its potential and so, with a saddened heart we closed the doors to the
Emerald City and OZ was disbanded on November 23, 2007. OZ will live on
in the hearts of the originators and those that found a family with
them for so long and will always be remembered as a family and as the
little guild that rose up against diversity, faced off against
Blizzard and won over bigotry and homophobia!
It should also be noted that on the same day of OZ's disbandment a
former member came along and recreated the guild, reclaiming the name
OZ and attempting to pass it off as the original guild that made
Shadowmoon famous. They attempted to recruit based off lies and
propaganda, taking credit for the true OZ's accomplishments. However, this imposter OZ failed miserably rather quickly due to poor leadership which was the reason behind us not wanting to give the original OZ over to anyone else when we decided to disband.
With the demise and disbandment of the imposter OZ the name was once again taken by the originators of the guild to hold this once great guild in spirit and memory forever. Let us pass now from history into legend.
If you were a member of OZ and would like to try out things on the
other side or if you just want to join a GLBT Friendly environment on
the Horde side then please look into WICKED on the Eredar server by

Now it's time to say goodbye...

...to all our company.
Sorry to break into song but I felt a lighter moment was in order for what must follow.
With a heavy heart I have to tell you all that the time has come for OZ
to disband. I wish this wasn't the case but in all reality it's been a
long time coming and ultimately it will be for the best.
Over the last month you all will have noticed my absence. I've had
things going on in real life keeping me from the game as much as before
and during that time the guild just sort of fell apart. I blame myself
partially, but I needed to take care of me. If I really think about it
though this was most likely bound to happen regardless of my being
there or not.
OZ has always been a good guild for leveling and those of us that
reached the level cap have always tried to stick together but that can
only last for so long before the lack of progression starts to become
disappointment.
With The Burning Crusade we really thought that endgame would finally
be something that OZ would see. But unfortunately we had a few
successful runs in Karazhan and that was it before things tapered off
yet again.
With these things comes restlessness and your eye starts to wander to
bigger and better opportunities. That has happened now. It was brought
to my attention that the majority of active 70s in OZ left for a new
guild last night and I have to say I can't blame them. People don't
want to sit idle while the game goes on around them especially when
endgame is so much more accessible now.
So that was the nail in the coffin for me, so to speak. When I logged
in this morning and found out what had happened I realized that now is
probably the best time to close OZ and wish everyone a happier tomorrow
and happier adventures in the game.
I don't want any of the members that are left thinking they had
anything to do with this. You're all a wonderful bunch of people, but
the little guild that could just can't anymore. And it will only be a
matter of time before you reach the level cap and want to experience
things you can't with OZ.
I'd like to thank all of you that stuck with OZ until the bitter end. Your loyalty to the guild and to me is overwhelming.
This Friday at 3:00pm server time we're going to be holding a little
ceremony to give OZ an official farewell and we'd like anyone, past or
present members, who would like to attend to be there in saying goodbye
to the guild that started it all.
Again, thank you all for your membership and your loyalty. I couldn't
have asked for a better group of people and I'll appreciate all of you
always.
I'm not certain if this new guild that all of our 70s moved to is
welcoming more new members as I know nothing about them other than
their name is "Full Force" but if you'll want to stick with former OZ
members and still have that little sense of family you had with them
get in contact with Almagest, Aromagus, Filius or Rashaki and find out
if Full Force is recruiting.
Thank you for the memories,
~Jaydis - Ozma of OZ (one last time)
Fright was the theme of the night at OZ's annual Hallow's End Party. We gathered in the spooky town of Darkshire to don our costumes, ride our brooms and dance the night away while enjoying delicious confections provided by Frostiana and Filius. Of course, in Azeroth, the Alliance can never rest for long. At several points during our festivities, parties were sent out to dispatch those pesky Horde. Once enough brew was passed around, we got bold and set our beer goggles on Tarren Mill. After skewering everything in sight, we headed to Scarlet Monastery to hand out some final pwnage to the Headless Horseman. Eating, drinking, dancing...and lots of horde bashing--a truly satisfying night!
Emperor Blasted, Princess Saved!
OZ's magic and might triumphed over the elusive Emperor at Black Rock Depths. Here we are enjoying our spoils while the Princess stares into the distance, speechless with gratitude.
Today
was day two of our weekend Karazhan run. After a smidge of a late start
we plowed our way through the Broken Stair up the old tower to find
ourselves face to face with The Curator yet again. His attempt to
safeguard the Menagerie was strong but ultimately futile. A final act
of daring by Rashaki, Rendrio and Betend (with a little help from a
soulstone by yours truly) finished him off.
We were bestowed with gifts for his defeat, one of which was [Garona's Signet Ring], won by Rendrio.
And congratulations to Filius for winning the token for his Tier 4 [Warbringer Handguards]!
Once The Curator was downed we
made our way through the Library to the Chess Event. This was OZ's
first time in the Gamesman's Hall and after we got our bearings as to
what we were supposed to be doing we made quick work of Medivh and his
cheating ways! It was Checkmate, the King was defeated and the game
went to OZ!
I didn't get a
screenshot of the event because people were having to leave so I'll
save that for next time. However, Medivh's chest of goodies lavished
pretty purples on us for a job well done.
Congratulations to Pedurabo for winning [Heart-Flame Leggings].
And to Antek for winning [Fiend Slayer Boots].
Thank you all for coming and congratulations fellow OZians for a successful weekend run! Let's do it again next week!
Today,
OZ ventured into the halls of Karazhan once again. After a quick run
past Attumen the Huntsman, Moroes and the Maiden of Virture we found
our way to the stage of the Opera Hall. We held our breath as Barnes
took centerstage too announce us and the evening's production. Would it
be Romulo and Julianne yet again? But to our surprise and
enjoyment we found ourselves within the Emerald City once again facing
off against The Crone. It wasn't an easy fight...at first. Chaos would
be a better word, but once we got our bearings we took down Dorothee
and her little dog too along with Roar, Strawman, Tinhead and The Crone
herself!
State of the Emerald City Address
Hello fellow OZians.
First I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you that have stuck
with OZ through thick and thin. All of you who continue to care about
the guild and continue to level and stay with us. OZ would be nothing
without you guys and I am very appreciative of you all.
That being said let's talk about a few changes that are going on.
First of all, as you have certainly noticed by now, the website has had
a bit of a reconstruction. WICKED has moved to it's own website and now
we are solely OZ again. So to issue in this change I felt an overhaul
of the graphics and colors were needed. I hope you like it. There are a
few things that still need to be changed but for the most part it's
complete.
As far as the website goes I'd love any suggestions you guys might have
about changes that are needed or what have you. OZ, unfortunately, has
never had a very active forum community and if that's how you guys want
it to be that's perfectly fine with me. I know that the majority of you
tend to spend your time ingame talking and leveling and such but if
there's anything I can do to make you guys want to take a more active
interest in the forums, just let me know.
Also, since this is an OZ only website now the WICKED forums and WICKED
members have been removed. This was just so we could have two distinct
sites. However, we in OZ encourage any of you WICKED members to create
alts in OZ and register to the website. At some point in the future I
believe Sistine and I plan to implement a "Cross-dressing Night" where
members who usually play in OZ will play alts in WICKED and vice versa,
so just keep that in mind.
Secondly we've done a bit of rescheduling for our Karazhan raids. We
started out on such a high note with Kara. Curator was downed in our
first week, everybody wanted to go and everyone was ready to go when
the times rolled around. But now there seems to be a lack of interest
in general. I know that school started for many of you and I've had a
couple of my Commanders constantly reassuring me that this is why we
haven't had a successful Kara run in weeks. However I have to say I'm
beyond discouraged. The little guild that could seems to be becoming
the little guild that can't and I want to know what needs to change.
So, I've changed the Karazhan times to Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00pm
Server time in hopes that will accomodate more people. People shouldn't
be in school and I know we have a few people who work at nights on the
weekends but the afternoon time should hopefully cater to them as well.
It's my hope this time change will get us back in Karazhan on a more
regular basis. However, should this not work then Karazhan will be
canceled indefinitely, until we have the people and the interest
generated again. Which considering we have more and more people
leveling every day and getting closer to 70, hopefully that interest
won't be too hard to bring about.
Our ranking system has also been changed a bit. Nothing of too great
importance except for the addition of the Ozma Regent rank. This rank
will be given to the person or persons left in charge should I ever be
gone from the game for an extended length of time. Just keep in mind
that should that happen they are in charge, all guild decisions and
matters go through them. But I don't plan on going anywhere for the
moment so that rank will remain unused for the time being. I'll be
changing the ranking system post soon to reflect this change.
Well, that's pretty much it and I need to wrap this up before it
becomes too long anyway. So good journey, fellow OZians. Keep leveling,
keep having fun and keep with OZ!
Thanks so much,
~Jaydis - Ozma of OZ

This
past Thursday and Friday OZ ventured into Karazhan for the first of
it's biweekly runs through this epic dungeon. Having had a trial run
the week before we were more than confident we were ready to step
deeper into the recesses of Medivh's tower.
Having defeated Attumen the Huntsman and Midnight during our trial run
(see the news post below) we made haste into the stables and made quick
work of the man and his horse yet again. Then it was on to Moroes.
During the trial run we had a bit of an upset with our Ventrillo server
going down and one of our members having computer trouble so we called
it a night, but we were bound and determined to bring the fight back to
Moroes this week and defeat him at all costs.
And that's exactly what we did...
The OZ MySpace has had a bit of an overhaul. We've made it the OZ \
WICKED MySpace so both guilds have a joint MySpace so the members can
show off their real selves to each other.
With this change the MySpace also has a completely new look and a new
song! So check it out today and add yourself so we can see you!
