Legion Rally

The Legion of Gondor is calling brave Men, Women and allies of Gondor to protect the ancient lands of Arnor! We seek to stem the growing tide of Angmar and to aid the Free-Peoples of Eriador.

As Boromir’s Commander of the Ecthelion Legion, Sarawenn was called from Minas Tirith to follow and attend to her liege in Rivendell. Bringing a small group of trusted knights with her, she was ordered by Boromir to stay in the lands of Eriador to protect the ancient lands of Arnor in Evendim and to recruit those that would not only fight for Gondor, but to aid the Free-Peoples in the land as well.

Sarawenn, at first, disputed this order, for the land of Mordor besieged Gondor day-by-day, and she requested to return to the White City. Boromir was adamant and said, “I have given the order to protect the ancient lands, for if Minas Tirith falls, where then shall our people go, Sarawenn? Angmar also lays siege to the northern lands – shall we leave Arnor, once the realm of King Elendil himself, to its doom? Mere rangers cannot stand alone against the might of Angmar, and it is to the Shire-folk you must look to, for the halfling lands borders the southern gate to Evendim.”

At this, Sarawenn nodded to Boromir and with sadness, watched him depart from Rivendell with the Fellowship, not knowing if she would ever see her liege lord again, nor her beloved White City.

About the Legion

The Legion of Gondor is a new role-playing kinship in the Landroval community with the emphasis on Gondor and the Race of Man. We focus on role-playing, questing, crafting, and occasional forays into Annuminas and Carn Dum instances (perhaps Helegrod in the future!). One of our goals is to provide a rich role-playing experience in Tolkien’s world to both beginners and experienced roleplayers alike. Although we try to stay as close to lore as possible, we are not lore elitists and know that some leeway must be made to create entertaining roleplaying scenarios.

What the Legion looks for:  Although the Legion is a brand new kinship and we hope to expand our numbers, we choose quality over quantity. You must enjoy role-playing, love to immerse yourself in the world of Middle Earth in the LOTRO setting, enjoy helping others, and are mature adults. As such, to maintain a level of maturity within our kinship, potential recruits must be 20 years of age or older. The Legion specializes in heavy-armoured classes (Guardians, Captains, and Champions) and is a Man-based kinship (majority of our members are Race of Man), but we do recruit other classes and races! However you must have a character-appropriate background story for joining in the Legion. Beginner roleplayers and all levels are welcome. All potential recruits should try to have a lore-appropriate name – no gibberish names allowed (attn: Captains, this includes your heralds as well)!

If contacted for an interview, it will consist mostly IC (in-character). This is to learn about your character and to get to know a bit about your RL (real life) self as well. If you are a beginner role-player or new to the game, just relax, play along, and have fun! You’ll get the hang of it. All new recruits are subject to a 2-3-week trial membership – this is for you to gauge if the kin is right for you, and vice-versa. Before you become a full member, the leader may issue a group roleplaying assignment specific to your character.

Legion rules:

1. Be polite and respectful to your kinsmen. Mind your manners. No coarse language (ok, I will allow the occasional expletive slide if the occasion really calls for it! :p ). No drama - we are mature adults. Drama/tension between characters is fine, just not OOC (out-of-character). Be respectful to our Alliance kinships as well – a list is posted in our private members area.

2. You are expected to aid your kin if asked. If you are not particularly busy and a fellow soldier needs help, please help them if you can make the time. We encourage grouping as much as possible to foster camaraderie. If you are asking for help, try to be patient and if there is no one available to help you, send the leader or an officer an in-game mail and we’ll set something up.

3. Roleplaying is required of you in this kinship – if light RP is more your style, that is fine, but you MUST roleplay. Roleplaying is encouraged in Kinchat, though we are OOC quite a bit as well. Anything in /say or /rp channel should be IC. Fellowship chat is mostly OOC, but roleplaying is definitely welcomed during questing.

4. The Legion does not have any time requirements for members, but we do expect you to be active in some way and attend meetings and events when you can. We understand that you have duties and obligations in RL, and those must come first. However, if you will be gone for a month or longer, please inform the leader and you will be kept in the roster. Members who are absent over a month will be temporarily dismissed from the Legion for inactivity.

5. Alts: 2 alts are allowed in the Legion. Your alts cannot have gibberish names.

6. Do your best to provide a good gaming experience for all and support the Landroval roleplaying community!

1st Annual Festival of the White City!
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:45 AM - submitted by Sarawenn    (0 Comments)

The Legion of Gondor's first ever Festival of the White City was a success! A big thank-you to everyone who supported the Legion in sending out the word about our event, as well as friends who arrived to cheer us on! ...

... Melawil, who graciously listed our event in the RP calendar; the folks at Rohirrim and Glory of the Longbeards kinship for their support; and a HUGE thank-you to the Bounders of the Shire for their much-needed security detail -- HAIL to Master Ayrhawk, Captain Kaliala, and Fourth Shirriff Rumache!

Although a few rabble-rousers crashed our party (I am still paying Mister Cranford of Hobbiton for the damages! .. it seems a number of chickens were stolen, sheep shorn without permission, and dont even mention what Cranford's daughter was up to!), this would not deter us from celebrating the honour of Minas Tirith! Also, a gracious thank-you to Master Eagle for keeping a particular party-crasher in line. *bows*!

And the band played on!Photobucket Some songs went down very well with the crowd! Notice the Bounders keeping a vigilant watch on the rooftops, just in case goblins should wander from the north!

Cynaera is the Legion's newsest Officer! Hail Cynaera! Please do not hesitate to ask her for aid should you need it. Cynaera is also a talented armoursmith and will happily craft tools or any items you need.

We have our first Rift Raid coming up on Sunday 19th October at 9pm EST. Please inform me ASAP if you wish to attend so I can guarantee a spot for you. The Legion will be adventuring with one of our Ally kinships, Soldiers of Light, and some friends from Grace of the Valar.
