Well looks like I get a shot now at Leading a Kinship.  This isn't something I've done before, and I have no plans of making any kind of a big deal out of it.  I do plan to try being a driving force behind the restoration of The Family.  That being to get some discussions going here on the Website, and to try lead an effort to expand our ranks which will probably be the trickiest part.  On that note recruit your Friends and Family into LotRO and into our Kinship! :)

As part of the restoration effort I've started cleaning up the forums of old posts.  This is going to feel much like starting a brand new Kin from ground up, well a brand new Rank 10 kin that's been around since Day 1!  Best thing I can try to encourage is don't be shy, if you have ideas or try something or help out just speak up.  A Kin leader can only be successful if he/she has the support of the active membership.

New House  

Hey folks we got a new House!

We are now out of the stuffy, dank, dark old Dwarf quarters where there was a  mile walk to the store/bank. Our new house is located in the bright, vibrant, fun loving Shire community of Midvale @ #4 brookbank. It is right across the bridge from the store/bank and there are a tun of houses available for sale in that district so if you want to be close to the Kin house feel free to grab one before they are all gone.

Tips for book 14(so far)  

Hey all just thought I would give you a list of things I have found out about book 14 so far

tip on the Ring Lore quests
-you can do it on any toon not just on lvl 30
-they are given out by any Mob with 2 legs in the stated areas for the quest(open the quest panel for a list of areas at your lvl)

14.1
-this is a hard one you need a good balanced group with some nice CC
-take the boss upstairs so that you can get him away from the adds that spawn. if the adds get to close they heal the boss.
-the adds spawn once right at the begining (but you can reset them) and every time the bosses health drops below 30K and 15K. if the boss gets healed above 30K or 15K and then drops below that mark again the adds will re-spawn.
-try and get a good FM that gives 2 ghost helpers to easy the pain of the adds
-2 healers can really help the fight out but an off healer(captian or LM) should do.

14.6
-this one can be tricky to do.
-first tip Read your skills and figure out what they do. this is very important. if you don't know what they do you have no chance of winning the final battle
-don't bother fighting the first few groups of enemies. You can run around them an come up the back side of the hill
- at the top of the hill there are 4 regular guards and 1 guard with a pet. use your one-shot skill to take out the guard with the pet. if you do that the pet vanishes(2 for 1 kill :) ). make sure the pathers behind the group are at the bottom of the hill and pull the other 4 guards. If you read your skills this should be a breeze.
-next one-shot one of the archers on the stairs(cause he attacks from range) and then pull the other 3. stun the 2 melee guys and kill the guy with the bow. then kill the 2 melee with your AoE skills(one bow and one sword)they go down rather fast
-climb the stairs to the middle area. here there is a mini boss type fight. there are 3 waves of adds(2,3,4) and then the end guy. hold on to your mez for the second or third group. use your burning arrow on a guy with 400 or so hp and just leave him the fire will kill him while you are killing anohter guy. if you want to use your one shot skill here use it on one of the archers in round 2 that way you can deal with melee only attacks and it is just like round 1. in round 3 pull back behind the rock so that the ranged guys will come up and to get in LOS. when they do group them up with the melee guys and stun the lot of them. then kill one at a time starting with the lowest health guy. Remeber that your burning skill will kill a guy with 400-500 moral so pu it on them and move to your next target.
-take some time to heal up and then move up the stairs to the last lvl
-this is where things get way to hard for what I think it should. I tried fighting my way through it twice and died both times with time left on the clock. the third time I faught it I didn't fight at all I just ran around the room and kited all the melee guys and took the damage from the archers. I survived with over 3000 moral. I used the heal twice and the stun once. if you are going to use the stun try and get one of the archers. that way when you are running around the stunned archer is not shooting at you :)


That all the help I have for now. I will add more as I get further in the book. hope this helps people get going in the book. If you have questions and I am in game just send me,Venedor, or Medical a tell.

Friday night Rift run.  

Ok all I can say is that was some of the most fun I have had in this game.

We fought all the way to the balrog and even tried him once. Then we went back and tried again on satuday. I was really hopeing to take him down on my first run but alas we were unable to do so. They are trying again on Tuesday and I wish them all the luck in the world. Here are some pics of the balrog and my fancy new title.



I highly recomend to all of you to try and get in on one of the rift runs(friday or saturday). They are a lot of fun and you get some really great loot out of it. The ladder system they have set up for the runs means that you are garunteed to get loot if you go. I got rather lucky and got my boots first time out(we had 3 of those gems drop) but had I not gotten the boots I probably would have gotten one of the other pieces down the line.

I myself would love to go next week bu tI don't think I can commit that much time to the run and also there is very limited space for new people to join.

So when the signup shows up in the VA events signup jump at the chance and get in on some real fun

Family Book run was a hit  

Though we only had a few members show up we ran from book 7.8 all the way to 11.1.(man my bumb is sore :) )

we will have to give it another try next weekend and see if we can't get done through book 12.

Thanks to all the showed up even those who could only make it for the very end.

I will add it as another event next weekend so sign up in the events section.

Congrats everyone we got our 1 year rank 10 reconition on Sunday. Thats right the family has been kicking about for 1 year now.

Here's to the next year. May we grow and become strong like days gone by.

New Kin Leader  

As Sal is finding it hard to make it into the game he felt that it would be best to pass on the leaders position. I, Melianel, am now the Kin Leader. I would like to see this kinship grow and become the mightly kin that it once was. New members, this Website, and fun events/games will be the main focus of my time as leader. I will be continuing with the weekly riddel so that is one posative thing we can say about our kinship. Also I would love to get an event setup so that everyone,new and old, can meat one another.

But I can not do all thease grand things by myself. I need all your help. in the form of sugestions, running events, pugging with people who are not in a kinship. That last one is very important. If we see someone who dose not have a kinship name displayed start a dialog with that person. ask them if they need any help with a quest. Talk to them about how they are enjoying the game. just take a quick miniute or two to try and show that person that we do help eachother out in this kinship. thats how you get new members without having to spam the OOC and area channels. If we all found one toon to join the kinship in the next month we will have doubled our members. then it will be easier to fin members to play with.
